DECEMBER CONTEST: AVON Author Lori Wilde is Sharing the Season!

Title: The Sweetheart Knitting Club
Author: Lori Wilde
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: AVON
Release: Nov. 2009
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Amazon.com, Barnes & Nobles, Borders

Book Description:

"Throw a penny in the fountain of the Twilight town square, and you'll be married to your first love . . . "

For ten years, pretty Flynn MacGregor has been turning down the same solid, upright man's marriage proposal. Her friends at the Sweethearts' Knitting Club tell her they're a match made in heaven, but Flynn knows there's only one dangerous reason why she keeps saying no: high school sweetheart Jesse Calloway. She was just sixteen when Jesse was forced out of town under a cloud of suspicion . . . but he's never left her heart.

Now Jesse is back, and every time she turns the corner he's there—gazing at her with his smoldering eyes and tempting her with his kisses. Jesse has never played by the rules, and he's made it clear that he's not going to now. And Flynn, who's always done just what her family, friends, and fellow knitters have told her to do, must finally break free and claim the love that binds Jesse to her heart.

Interview with one of today' fresh, fun and very talented AVON romance authors, Lori Wilde

CSM: Please help me welcome AVON author, Lori Wilde to Over the Edge. Lori, my readers and I are so psyched that have dropped by to spend time with us. Thanks so much!

CSM: Tell us more about yourself. Readers love learning new and interesting things about an author, and this would give you a chance to make them feel close.

Hi Christine, thanks so much for inviting me. It’s a delight to be here. Honestly, I’m pretty boring. I spend most of my time writing, teaching writing or reading. Although, recently I’ve taken up knitting. I live in a small town in Texas with my husband where we raise Buff Orpington and Faverolle chickens. We have two Australian Shepherds and a black cat. I’m a register nurse who no longer practices, but I have a certificate in Forensics. I volunteer as a sexual assault first responder for my local domestic abuse shelter.

CSM: Besides being a total book junkie I’m also a music junkie. When I’m writing I have a sound track playing either in my mind or in my cd player. What’s your sound track? What type of music is on it?

I’m from the Rock and Roll generation. I love the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, The Who, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, practically anything from the sixties and seventies. When I’m writing a book, however, I have a playlist for the stories that fits the characters and their story. Right now I’m writing a Christmas book for release next year so I’m listening to a lot of Christmas music.

CSM: How would readers find out more about you?

Read my books. Things that happen in my stories often happened first in my life.

CSM: When did you write your first book?

I wrote my first book in 1990. It didn’t sell. I wrote my second book in 1992. It did sell and became my first published novel, Raleigh and The Rancher released from Silhouette Romance in 1995.

CSM: Where and when do you write?

I write in my travel trailer which is my home office and I write ten to twelve hours a day. There’s no set time. I have insomnia and I could be writing at two A.M. or noon.

CSM: What is your must-have book for writing?

Just one? I have a huge library of how-to-books. If I had to pick just one it would be Techniques of the Selling Writer by Dwight Swain.

CSM: What is your advice for aspiring writers?

Put your fanny in the chair and write. Don’t talk about it. Don’t wish it. Just do it.

CSM: What genre(s) do you write?

Right now I’m writing straight contemporary romances for Avon and super sexy reads for Harlequin Blaze.

CSM: Among that you’ve written which is your favorite book and why?

It’s always the book I just finished. Although I will confess a certain fondness for Saving Allegheny Green because it’s in first person and it was a book of my heart that took me six years to find a publisher. It had a chick lit voice before chick lit was popular and it’s half romance/half mystery. Publishers didn’t know how to market it. I love first person but most romance readers don’t, so I usually steer clear of it. With SAG I indulged myself.

CSM: Tell us more about your recent release, “ The Sweetheart Knitting Club”.

I came up with the basic romance plot—a love triangle between a good boy who’s not so good, a bad boy who’s not so bad and a woman who loves them both—while spending hours on the road driving forty miles one way to my mother-in-law’s house every day for six weeks to take her to radiation treatment for breast cancer. I plotted the whole book in my head during those drives. At the time I was with a different publisher, working on the last book in my Wedding Veil Wishes series, but I knew that Sweethearts would be my next contemporary.

CSM: Any new projects, works in progress?

I always have new projects in the works. I’m writing three more books for Harlequin Blaze and two more books in the Twilight, Texas series for Avon. Currently I’m working on a Christmas story featuring the members of the Sweethearts’ Knitting Club, this time involved in a cookie club.

CSM: I want to take this time to thank you Lori for stopping by and sharing with my readers and myself a little bit about yourself. This sure has been loads of fun. I hope you enjoyed being here as much as we enjoyed having you.
It’s been an honor. Thank you so much for inviting me.

I hope your mother-in-law is doing OK.
This sounds like an enjoyable book to spend an evening or two reading with a cup of hot chocolate at hand. Choices that go against what your friends and family expect or want are hard to make. It takes strength and confidence. Jesse sounds like she has both.
I look forward to reading the book.
