Baring It All

Generations of werewolves have been secretly residing in a secluded valley a stone’s throw from Grundy, Alaska. So when a snooping Outsider comes to Grundy to investigate rumors of lycanthropic shenanigans in the area, the valley’s pack alpha, Maggie Graham, resolves to chase him away, even if doing so takes a quick bite on the butt. What a pity that researcher Nick Thatcher turns out to be so drool-worthy, and that his kisses make Maggie want to sit up and beg. Maggie just can’t seem to convince Nick to leave . . . and even worse, she can’t convince herself to stay away from him. Cross-species dating is problem enough for a harried alpha female, but on top of that, a rival group of werewolves is trying to move into the valley. With interpack war threatening, Maggie can’t afford to be distracted. Combining romance and a career can be tough for anyone; for a werewolf in love with a human, it may be disastrous. . . .

1. What is the best part of being a writer? What is the worst?

The best part of being a writer is being able to share what’s in my twisted head with others. Being able to go into almost any bookstore, and find my books on the shelves.

The worst? Not sleeping. I work full-time and write at night, which means I get four or five hours of sleep per night. Between working, writing, and raising two young children with my husband, I’m pretty exhausted.

2. Why do you write?

Because I wouldn’t be happy otherwise? When I started writing my first book, I'd gotten to the point in my life when every time I went into the bookstore I was really unhappy. Because I knew I could write a book, I just needed to put my big girls panties on and do it.

3. Name one eye-opening thing you learned from your book research.

That when I research deadly poisons, it makes my husband nervous. I was looking for a fast-acting poison that could be absorbed through the skin to make my character sick. My husband found me reading a book on poisons in the bookstore and said I was taking an argument we’d just had about household chores a little too seriously.

4. Do you have a favorite motto?

Writers write.

Seriously, reading books on technique, joining groups, taking classes- these are valid use of your time. But sitting down and writing is what’s going to make you a writer.

5. Do you have a favorite fictional hero? Favorite fictional heroine?

Mr. Darcy. Even though he’s rather mean to Elizabeth at first, I think he’s such an interesting, complex mix of haughty and sweet. And Jane Eyre, for different reasons. Jane had a completely awful life, but she rarely complained, didn’t whine, didn’t lay down and give up. There’s a lot to be said for that.

6. Which fictional character would you hang out with?

Elizabeth Bennett, of course, and Jane Jameson, because sometimes, even I don’t know why she does the things she does. (Mumbles) Would throw both of those girls over to hang out with Eric Northman.

7. What is one of your favorite book covers, your own or someone else’s?

I am really happy with the NAKED WEREWOLF covers, because I had a lot of input in the creation. They’re exactly how I wanted them. But I also loved the AND ONE LAST THING… cover. All three were done by the wonderful Renata DiBiase.

8. What would readers be surprised to learn about you?

I have a deep-rooted fear of clowns. I don’t know why. I wasn’t traumatized at a circus. I wasn’t allowed to watch It. But for some reason, they scare the crud out of me.

9. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever learned by Googling your name?

I worked as a newspaper reporter for six years, with several summer news internships before that. When you’re working as a news intern, you pick up all kinds of stories. My junior year of college, I was working for a newspaper and ended up writing about this huge marijuana bust that involved police in three counties, helicopter searches and mass destruction of the plants. The story was released by wire services… and then reprinted in a very well-known magazine for marijuana aficionados. So every time you Googled my name that year, my name came up in association with the pot magazine.

That made the job search… difficult.

10. If you could go backward or forward in time which would you chose? Why?

I would go back and tell myself to lay off the cheesecake. But I wouldn’t want to go forward. I don’t think it’s good to know too much about your future.

11. Molly, please share with us more about your latest release by Pocket Books release, “THE ART OF SEDUCING A NAKED WEREWOLF”.

12. Which do you find is most important to you as a writer, voice or story? Why?

Well, my voice is more polished than my plotting skills. So I’m more of a voice person. But obviously, one won’t work without another.

13. Molly for desperate readers like me please let us know where we can find you out in cyber world. =)

14. I know this is a difficult question with there being so many amazing authors out there to choose from but who are some of the GOT-TO-HAVE authors in your TBR pile?

Teresa Medeiros, I love her! Jane Green, Nora Roberts.

15. What’s next in the works for you? When can readers expect to see it out on shelves in their local bookstores?

There will be a fourth Jane Jameson book released in March 2012. And I’m working on two spinoff books set in Half Moon Hollow.

Molyy thank you so much for stopping by and sharring all about THE ART OF SEDUCING A NAKED WEREWOLF.  As always when you drop by I had a blast!  =)

I know you want to write but you need to slow down. Missing all that sleep, will catch up with you. That being said, the results have been good for us. This sounds like a bit more lighted approach to the werewolf stories. That is fine with me. A bit o humor is necessary in life.

I like the covers. The certainly mark them as connected books. They convey the story's message, and do it in a light-hearted way.

What a great series so far. I could not put it down. I am excited to read Maggie's book bc she was a spit fire in the first book.

I think the characters are so perfect. I love Cooper's hairy feet. And I love that Maggie looks a little crazy in her book cover. The nerdy boy looks cute.

Sounds like fun. I'm going to Alaska in June! I can't wait. Just the Inside Passage, but I don't care. Your covers remind me a lot of MaryJanice Davidson's Undead series or her Werewolve series. Same artist, maybe?

I'm reading the first book RIGHT NOW! Well, not literally right now, but I started it last night. It's really good so far.

Also, I love the covers, especially The Art of Seducing a Werewolf because of how she's attacking the main guy. Hah, very cute.

I've heard so much about the books, it's about time I finally read them :-) !

About the cover: there are so many books out there with "real people" on the cover, this one not only stands out, but it's real cute too!

Hi Molly..
Nice to meet you :).. My friend once recommend your Naked series to me, and she enjoy it :D
Paranormal genre is my favorite, and while its add with humor, seems I can't resist it.
Will read your book after this.

About cover, once my friend said, the cover is like chicklit novel. I said, nope, this not chicklit, this paranormal romance. I found the cover for Naked series are cute, unique and I always love cartoon cover like this ^_^
