Product Description

Divorce attorney Harper James can't catch a break. Bad enough that she runs into her ex-hubby, Nick, at her sister's destination wedding, but now, by a cruel twist of fate, she's being forced to make a cross-country road trip with him. And her almost-fiancé back at home is not likely to be sympathetic.

Harper can't help that Nick has come blazing back into her life in all of his frustratingly appealing, gorgeous architect glory. But in Nick's eyes, Harper's always been the one. If they can only get it right this time, forever might be waiting—just around the bend.

What is the best part of being a writer? What is the worst?

There are so many best parts, to be honest…I love coming up with new ideas and characters, love when something just pops into my mind and seems so perfect for the plot. I love, love, love meeting readers, either in person or via email or the Web, because that’s the thing as a writer; you don’t really know how your books will be received until they’re out in the wide world. Reader events, book signings, conferences…they’re all wicked fun. But I also love just doing my everyday job, sitting in my little office with my dog, losing myself in my characters’ lives.

As for the worst part, heck. The worst days as a writer are still pretty good days. It’s not always easy, of course—I’d say outside of motherhood, writing is by far the toughest job I’ve had. But since I love what I do, the worst parts aren’t really that bad…they’re just challenges to be overcome. For the record, I’ve become more Zen in recent years; I wasn’t always so mellow. J But experience has taught me that struggling with a plot point or story angle isn’t necessarily bad, because it just makes me think harder and, in the end, write better. One hopes, anyway!

Time management is a little tricky; I’m a bit of a workaholic, so it’s sometimes hard to close the lid of the laptop. But I feel so lucky to be doing what I love, and what I’ve always loved!

Why do you write?

I’ve always had stories churning in my brain, ever since Scarlett and Rhett didn’t end up together (I was shocked, I tell you!). The rest of my adolescence was spent fantasizing about them ending up happily ever after. To me, one of the most powerful urges in life is the desire to find The One…that person who will love you for who you are, help shoulder life’s tough times, celebrate the good. I write because I want to tell that story, and hopefully make the reader laugh, cry, and in the end, close the book with a happy sigh and a smile.

Kristan, please tell us about your latest release “MY ONE AND ONLY”.

My One and Only is the story of Harper and Nick, married just out of college, divorced before the year was up. Now, twelve years later, they find themselves as maid of honor and best man at the same destination wedding, and circumstances throw them together on an unplanned road trip. It’s a book that examines not just finding true love, but keeping and nurturing it…and having faith that you deserve that kind of devotion to begin with. I love Harper and how she thinks she’s got it all figured out, and oh, diggety, do I love Nick, who knows exactly how to get under her skin, even after all this time! I have a huge crush on this guy. Huge.

Kristan, please tell desperate readers where they can find you in cyber world. =)

Oh, yes, come visit me! www.kristanhiggins.com, www.facebook.com/KristanHigginsBooks, and my group blog, www.jauntyquills.com.

What’s next in the works for you? When can readers expect to see it out on shelves in their local bookstores?

Until There Was You comes out in November, and I can’t wait for you guys to meet Posey and Liam. Back in high school, Liam was the typical bad-boy: good looks, bad attitude, hot motorcycle. But Posey, a geeky kid on the fringe of things, thought she saw more…until Liam broke her heart. Almost twenty years later, he’s back in town, still smokin’ hot, still having quite the effect on Posey. But now he’s a dad, and his teenage daughter seems to want to make the same kind of mistakes Liam used to talk all kinds of girls into making. Posey will have to figure out if Liam has really changed…and if she really wants him to.

Kristan, thank you for spending time with Over the Edge readers and myself it’s been a blast getting to know more about you and your books. =)

Thank you!!

This sounds like a romance story as they used to be before the introduction of vampires, werewolves etc.

Haven't read one of these in a long time but I think I would find it relaxing and enjoyable so please enter me in the giveaway.

Thanks.

A man who can carry the torch for his ex-wife for 12 years deserves to be rewarded with an HEA. This story line lends itself to humor, heartbreak, and discovery. I look forward to reading it.
